The Ampang LRT station is the eastern terminus for passenger services on the Ampang line LRT. It is situated north-west from Ampang town, and is within walking distance of Jalan Ampang directly to north east from the station.

The station is accessible via Jalan Ampang, near to CIMB Bank and Public Bank. This station was opened in 1996, along with 17 other LRT stations.
The station accommodates 1 island platform with 2 tracks. Parking facility is available at the station.

The station also facilitated multi level car parking complex.
The car parking complex is situated next to RapidKL Ampang LRT station, the facility is a five-storey complex that provides 1,140 parking bays for cars, including 144 bays exclusively for ladies and 20 for those with disability, plus 200 motorcycle bays on the ground floor.

The Ampang parking complex is equipped with state-of-the art facilities like parking lane terminal, parking centralised monitoring system, equipment monitoring system, parking guidance system, fault detection system, security cameras, panic button for cases of emergencies and a control centre for operations, management and maintenance works.

The multi-level parking system uses MyRapid card only for entry and exit with payment deducted from the stored value.
