It started operations on June 16, 2022 as part of Phase One operations of the MRT Putrajaya Line.

The MRT station is located in the west side of Jalan Kampung Batu, Kuala Lumpur, named after the village of Kampung Batu (Batu Village) in northern Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It was built on the location of the disused colonial-era Batu Village railway station, just next to the existing Kampung Batu KTM Station.

The station was designated as the temporary terminus for Phase One operations of the MRT Putrajaya line until Phase 2 started on March 16, 2023.

The MRT Putrajaya Line is the second line of the KVMRT Project to be developed after the successful completion of first line —
MRT Kajang Line in July 2017.
