Immigration officers of various ranks stationed at all entry points in the country will receive incentives under an approved allocation by the Traffic Management Committee.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said more than RM7.93 million has been approved under the provision of entrance incentives to immigration officers.
This incentives will be for officers stationed at the entry points at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex in Johor Baru; the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex at Bangunan Sultan Abu Bakar in Gelang Patah; the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and KLIA 2, in Sepang, will receive the approved incentives.
The deputy prime minister said the initiative is aimed at safeguarding the welfare of the officers and aligns with the concept of Ihsan within the Malaysia Madani framework.
He said further discussions will be held to fine-tune the matter in collaboration with the Public Service Department for the expansion of incentive provisions to immigration officers in Sabah and Sarawak.
“The government remains committed to ensure comprehensive cooperation and continuous integrated efforts with all relevant parties, and is always open to suggestions for improvements to address congestion at entry points, especially at the Johor Causeway.
“This effective collaboration is for the people’s comfort and convenience, while maintaining focus on safety and national sovereignty,” he said.
Fadillah said the incentive to the officers is part of the additional RM169 million allocation which has been approved to implement four new initiatives aimed at alleviating traffic congestions and immigration clearance.
He made the announcement via an online press conference, from his hospital bed, today.
He said the additional allocation will be channelled to three physical projects and the provision of entry incentives for immigration officers’ initiatives.
“More than RM7.9 million in annual financial commitment will be allocated as immigration officers at the entry points,” he said.
Among the three physical projects is the introduction of 77 additional MBIKEs lanes which includes 44 MBIKEs lanes at CIQ and 33 at ICQS.
He said the expansion in the number of MBIKEs is a proactive measure to cater to the growing motorcycle user population.
The project is expected to cost over RM96 million.
The consolidation of the Bus Passenger Hall, upgrade works and construction projects at the ICQS in Sultan Abu Bakar complex, worth over RM106.9 million, is a spill-over from three projects in phase 2 which was approved during the Special Committee Meeting in March this year.
He said as the project progresses, the cost had increased due to expansions and time factor.
Also planned in the new initiative are sheltered pedestrian walkways along the Johor Causeway.
