On March 8, 2022, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that the country’s borders would be reopened from April 1 in line with the country’s plan to enter the transition period to the endemic phase of Covid-19. With this announcement, Malaysia will be fully reopened its borders on April 1, 2022, dropping quarantine requirements for people vaccinated against COVID-19 after two years of strict travel restrictions.
