The Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) has been voted the world’s third-best low-cost airline terminal — up from fourth place — in the 2019 Skytrax World Airport Survey.
Skytrax, a United Kingdom-based consultancy, began its World Airport Awards in 1999, based on the standard of services at world airports and terminals and customer satisfaction.
Heading the top 10 low-cost terminals are Terminal 2 at Kansai International Airport and Terminal 3 at Narita International Airport, both in Japan.
Melbourne’s Terminal 4, London Stansted, Brussels Charleroi, East Midlands, Luton, Berlin Schonefeld and Frankfurt-Hahn are placed No. 4 to 10 respectively.
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) occupies the 54th spot in the World’s Top 100 Airports category, down from No. 44 in 2018.
Singapore’s Changi Airport retained its top position, followed by Tokyo Haneda (third last year) and Seoul Incheon (second last year).
Completing the top 10 are Doha Hamad, Hong Kong, Centrair Nagoya, Munich, London Heathrow, Tokyo Narita and Zurich.
Skytrax says the World Airport Awards, assessing customer services and facilities across 550 airports, are regarded as a quality benchmark for the industry.
