The equalisation of passenger service charges (PSC) at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and klia2 will establish a level playing field for the airlines operating in Malaysia, said the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
In a statement today, IATA Regional Vice-President for Asia Pacific, Conrad Clifford, said the association applauded the Malaysian government for the various steps taken to strengthen the aviation industry in recent years, from the establishment of an independent aviation commission to the recent equalisation of the PSC.
He also encouraged the government to continue reconsidering the plan to introduce a new charge on passengers to recover the costs of the advance passenger screening system.
Recently, the Malaysian Aviation Commission announced that all PSC will be fully equalised and implemented at every airport in Malaysia, with effect from Jan 1, 2018.
