Low-cost carrier AirAsia Bhd today celebrated its inaugural direct flight to Davao in the Philippine island of Mindanao from Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement today, AirAsia said there will be four flights a week on this route, its fourth direct route from Malaysia to the Philippines after Manila, Cebu and Kalibo.
"A send-off ceremony was held at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (klia2) to celebrate the maiden flight AK590 at 10.25am with a 100% load factor," the airline said.
Celebratory all-in-fares for these direct flights to Davao are priced from RM159 one-way are available for booking online at airasia.com until Dec 31, with travel period until June 30, 2018.
AirAsia said it also connects guests to other cities in the Philippines including Clark, Manila, Catician, Kalibo, Tacloban, Palawan, Cebu and Tagbilaran.
At 3.40pm, AirAsia's share price was one sen or 0.3% lower at RM3.32, giving a market capitalisation of RM11 billion.
