Passengers and visitors were impressed with facilities at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) which began its first full day of operations yesterday.
Many of them praised its sleek interior and exterior design and cozy ambience, while other passengers enjoyed the many shops at the Gateway@klia2, which helped occupy time while they waited to board their flights.
Retiree Nurmin Migan, 56, said the brand new airport was unlike any other he had seen in terms of its design and architecture.
"It is a good move to pull in tourists from around the world in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2014. I am in awe of its design."
Housewife Vivien Tor, 67, said that after 43 years of travelling, klia2 was undeniably the most sophisticated airport she had ever been to.
"I enjoyed the spacious ambience as it allows passengers to wander around the nearby shopping space, Getaway@klia2. It helps to kill time even after we checked in."
Turkmenistan-born Mergen Meredov, 19, complimented the simplicity of the airport's layout, as he had no trouble locating any facility and retail outlet.
Indian tourist, Dilip Butala, 63, said he was satisfied with klia2's cleanliness and spacious waiting area, as it made passengers feel comfortable.
"The airport's cleanliness and its fresh air indoors deserves some recognition as it is much better than the low-cost carrier terminal," said the Gujarat-bound passenger.
Student Nor Dianah Juarah, 22, who was checking in for a flight to Kota Kinabalu, said klia2 should have more entertainment outlets for passengers.
"The enormous space should be utilised to the fullest by setting up bowling alleys, karaoke bars and a cineplex for passengers to idle away time."
Meanwhile, Zaidi Zainal Abidin, 43, said it was his first time visiting the new airport and it was very grand-looking.
