Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) was today flooded with thousands of travellers waiting to catch a plane back to their respective hometowns throughout the country for Aidilfitri celebration.
With bus tickets having sold out weeks earlier, the latest air travel hub, klia2 was the focus of city folks to get home on time for the big day tomorrow.
Noor Hayati Chik, 36, who works as a clerk in a private advertising company said it is more comfortable flying especially when low-cost fares are available.
"We are pleasantly surprised to find klia2 so spacious and I was very impressed with the surau which I managed to visit on the first floor," she said when met by Bernama.
For some city folks, travelling by air to return home at klia2 was the right decision as visitors could still spend some time to visit the many stores at the airport.
Meanwhile, Rokiah Hashim, 50, said she was going back by air for the first time after a futile search for bus tickets in the city.
"I think it is the best decision to avoid the traffic congestion on the highways and the service at klia2 was excellent," said the civil servant who hailed from Kedah.
Generally visitors met by Bernama were city residents on leave at the last minute and travelling by air to be home on time seemed to be the best option. — BERNAMA
