People who enjoy visiting religious sites should check out St. Mary’s Cathedral otherwise known as Cathedral of St. Mary the Virgin. It is the Mother Church of West Malaysia Diocese that was built in 1894.

St. Mary’s is the cathedral church for the Anglican Diocese of West Malaysia.
From one small congregation in a simple wooden building in the 19th century on the present site beside Dataran Merdeka, it has grown into ten diverse and active congregations that form one cathedral community.
The St Mary’s Cathedral consists of a nave 87 feet long by 28 feet wide, and a chancel 29 feet long by 22 feet wide with an octagonal end, together with a vestry and organ chamber.

The nave can accommodate a congregation of 180 people and the chancel, a choir of 20.
How to go to St Mary’s Cathedral
The St Mary’s Cathedral is located along Jalan Raja, opposite of the Dataran Merdeka. See Google Map.
Go KL City Bus: The Go KL City Bus – Red Line will make stop at Dataran Merdeka.
Kelana Jaya line LRT: Take the LRT and stop at the Masjid Jamek LRT station. St Mary’s Cathedral is about 10 minutes walk from the LRT station.
Ampang line LRT: Take the LRT and stop at the Masjid Jamek LRT station. St Mary’s Cathedral is about 10 minutes walk from the LRT station.
RapidKL Bus: The RapidKL Bus No U4, U7, U13, U14, U209 will stop at Jalan Raja bus stop. St Mary’s Cathedral is within short walking distance.
