Plaza Rakyat LRT station is an elevated rapid transit station situated in central Kuala Lumpur. It is just next to the Pudu Sentral and Chinatown in Kuala Lumpur.

This LRT station is named after and located at the rear of Plaza Rakyat, a large mixed-use development project that was stalled during the economic crisis in 1997.

The Plaza Rakyat station is located near Pudu Sentral and it is part of the
Ampang / Sri Petaling Line LRT network.

Due to its proximity with Plaza Rakyat as it was opened, the concourse level of the Plaza Rakyat LRT station was originally intended to directly link the south side of the complex.
If the commuters want to switch to a MRT train on the MRT Kajang Line, they will be glad to know that this Plaza Rakyat LRT station is connected to the Merdeka MRT Station via a paid-to-paid pedestrian walkway.

A 150 metre-long covered pedestrian bridge and walkway was provided to connect the station to the south of the nearby Pudu Sentral.
Due to the suspension of the construction Plaza Rakyat project, the pedestrian bridge continues to serve passengers entering and leaving the station.

The platforms of the station are linked via escalators to a single concourse area just below the rapid transit line, where tickets are purchased.

Connected linkway between MRT and LRT Station
Merdeka MRT Station is connected to the Plaza Rakyat LRT Station via a paid-to-paid pedestrian walkway.

Initially meant to be only a connecting station, the Merdeka MRT station now serves as an interchange station, with the LRT station on the Ampang / Sri Petaling Line LRT via a paid-to-paid walkway link connecting between both stations.
The linkway is located on the Plaza Rakyat station’s concourse. Passengers are hence not required to purchase separate tickets while interchanging between both MRT and LRT lines.

The linkway between LRT and MRT station is accessed via Entrance C at the Lower Concourse Level of the station.
