KL Sentral LRT station has been renamed to KL Sentral redONE effective Monday, 29 May
The name change is in partnership between redONE Network Sdn Bhd (redONE), ASEAN’s largest mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), and Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd, the nation’s 100% government-owned company in charge of public transportation.
KL Sentral LRT station’s rebranded name will be visible at the main areas of the station and along the Kelana Jaya line, including signboards, maps, as well as on board trains, according to a report by New Straits Times.
The partnership, which is part of a five-year station naming rights agreement, is to enhance redONE’s brand presence in the Klang Valley
redONE chief executive officer (CEO) Farid Yunus said the partnership would allow the company to push its brand further to the millions of people passing through the station daily and further strengthen its presence in the Klang Valley.
“We look forward to a successful partnership that will shape the future landscape of public transportation in the Klang Valley,” Prasarana Integrated CEO Fa’izah Khairuddin said, adding that the collaboration marked a milestone for the company.
For over two decades, Prasarana has owned and operated bus services in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, and Pahang, as well as the city’s rail services, which include Light Rapid Transit (LRT), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Express Rail Link (ERL), and Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM), as well as direct routes to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The integrated station was designed as the largest multimodal transport hub of its kind in Southeast Asia and to connect all existing rail networks.
