The event represented another milestone for Batik Air’s operations to more new destinations in East Asia while promoting Seoul as a new key destination for business and leisure travels.
The daily route will be operated by the airline’s new Boeing 737-8 MAX that seats 180 persons, and the trip departs KLIA every day at 10.30pm, arriving to Incheon at 6.00am.
Meanwhile, the returning flight leaves Incheon at 7.00am and arrives at KLIA at 12.50pm.
At present, Batik Air Malaysia is offering an all-inclusive one-way Economy Class promotional fare starting from RM389 to Incheon, Seoul, whereas Economy class fare from Incheon starts from 100,000 won (RM357).
Fares also include 20kg complimentary baggage allowance.
Group strategy director for Batik Air and its parent Lion Air Group, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, said: “We are pleased with the launching of this inaugural flight to Incheon and we can see that the demand for this service is very encouraging.
“The global popularity of South Korea’s cultural economy exporting pop culture, entertainment, music, TV dramas, movies and cuisine has also caught the interest among most Malaysians.”
Chandran also commented that South Koreans have adopted travelling abroad as a way of healing and maintaining their personal well-being.
“Malaysia has huge potential to attract South Korean tourists and we see this connectivity as a convenient option for them to explore Malaysia’s fascinating tourist attractions,” he added.
