Batik Air adds second route to Pakistan

Batik Air Malaysia adds second route to Pakistan, launching a new Kuala Lumpur-Karachi route commencing 31 October. This follows the “resounding success of its daily flights to Lahore”, the airline said.

Flights between Kuala Lumpur and Karachi will initially run three times a week.

Batik Air Malaysia noted that it would deploy a “brand new” Boeing 737-800 on the route, with 12 seats in business class and 150 in economy class.

Batik Air Malaysia’s business cabin features recliners and upgraded dining options across a 2-2 configuration, while economy is in a 3-3 setup.

“Nestled like a radiant jewel in the heart of Pakistan, Karachi stands as a testament to the nation’s vibrant spirit and remarkable diversity. This sprawling metropolis, the largest in the country, not only serves as a thriving business center but also shines as a bustling financial hub,” commented group strategy director of Batik Air and Lion Group, Chandran Rama Muthy.

Batik Air first launched operations between Malaysia and Pakistan in March 2016. Back then Batik Air Malaysia still operated as Malindo Air.

Batik Air Malaysia currently operates a fleet of 36 aircraft, counting two Airbus A330-300s, 26 Boeing 737 units and eight ATR72-600 turboprops.

The Airbus and Boeing fleets operate primarily out of Kuala Lumpur International airport (KLIA), while the turboprops are based at Kuala Lumpur’s downtown Subang airport.

The airline is a member of the Lion Air Group of Indonesia comprising Batik Air Indonesia, Super Air Jet, Lion Air, Wings Air and Thai Lion Air.
