Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Langkawi International Airport (LGK) are among the world’s best airports in the latest Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey for the second quarter of 2022.
Both airports successfully scored 5.00 in the global survey by Airports Council International which measures overall passenger satisfaction encompassing terminal safety, facilities, services and cleanliness.
KLIA shared the achievement with seven other airports in the over 40 million passengers per annum (mppa) category while LGK was the only airport scoring full points in the 2-5mppa category.
The achievement secured by both airports is evidence of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) commitment in ensuring services and operations meet global standards.
For July 2022, MAHB registered a total of 7.8 million passenger movements, with 4.8 million passenger movements from a network of local airports and three million at its Turkish airport, the Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport.
MAHB MD Datuk Iskandar Mizal Mahmood said it might be a challenge to maintain great passenger experience as more passengers are arriving.
“The most recent ASQ results are a manifestation of this commitment, not just from MAHB but the entire airport community.
“I am pleased to share that for KLIA, the top three compliments received through the ASQ survey were related to smooth processes at the touchpoints, courteous on-ground assistance and fast check-in at the counters,” he said in a statement today.
In July 2022, the group recorded 3.1 million domestic and 1.6 million international movements in Malaysia, which is a 26% increase from the preceding month.
To date, both sectors have shown an upward recovery trend with domestic traffic reaching 66%, while international traffic increased 18% of pre-Covid-19 volume.
In the previous month, Malaysia’s aviation industry continues its recovery trajectory with the recommencement of more international routes by various airline partners, which includes Malaysia Airlines Bhd’s Kuching-Singapore route; AirAsia’s Kota Kinabalu-Bangkok-Don Mueng route; Air Busan Co Ltd’s Busan-Kota Kinabalu route; PT Citilink Indonesia’s Jakarta-Kuala Lumpur route; as well as Batik Air’s Medan-Kualanamu-Kuala Lumpur route.
