THE Home Quarantine Application (HQA) Portal, set to be accessible starting today, is aimed to improve the home quarantine system, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar.
He added that the improvement measures were carried out following a drastic number of home quarantine applications for foreign travellers who had completed the Covid-19 vaccine.
The new portal is developed by the Covid Preparedness and Response Centre.
“Travellers who had already received the Covid-19 complete dose vaccine were given the facility to undergo mandatory quarantine at home or residence.
“This new system can be accessed through the portal https://ecovid19.moh.gov.my/outbreak-portal-hqa, and applications must
be made within seven to 10 days before arrival in Malaysia,” he said at the launch of the new Private Covid-19 Screening test in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) yesterday.
“With the existence of this HQA portal, application management can be done better. Therefore, travellers who will arrive in Malaysia from Sept 28 can apply for compulsory quarantine at home or residence through this portal,” he added.
The permission for quarantine at home will be considered by the Health Ministry (MoH) for travellers who having health problems or emergencies after an infection risk assessment.
Commenting on Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) new Private Covid-19 Health Screening facilities, the minister said it is an option for those who do not want to do the screening implemented by the MoH.
“We want to help so that what can be implemented to make MAHB more efficient, safe and systematic for those who enter the country, I have looked at the process flow and found that there are many stations that require filling out forms that can be simplified,” he said.
“We must simplify the process in KLIA since the international flights will increase from time to time depending on the demand,” Khairy added.
Meanwhile, MAHB chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the new facility aims to ensure that the highest standards of services are maintained with the implementation of new travel standard operating procedures (SOPs).
He said MAHB has engaged the services of BP Clinical Lab to run the Health Screening Centre which has been sanctioned by MoH and National Security Council.
“We will not compromise on the safety of our passengers. Enabling this new facility is part of our continuous efforts to host joyful connections while upholding all safety measures aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19.
“We hope to further restore the confidence of passengers flying via our airports by enhancing the level of comfort and convenience throughout their journey,” he said.
Dr Zambry added the private Covid-19 screening facility will certainly facilitate safe travel practices for the higher passenger volume when travel resumes.
“We look forward to the lifting of international travel restrictions shortly in line with the recently implemented Langkawi domestic travel bubble by the government last week,” Dr Zambry added.
