Travellers participating in the Malaysia-Singapore Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) by air and land will be required to conduct a Covid-19 self test on the third and seventh day upon arrival, says Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said they will have to enter the results in their MySejahtera application.
He added that there will also be a postponement in creating VTLs between countries that have reported transmission of Omicron or with high-risk countries that have reported the transmission of the variant, such as those listed on the ministry’s travel restriction list.
“This postponement will be until a clearer picture is obtained on the transmission of Omicron at a global level,” he told a press conference on Wednesday (Dec 1).
Khairy added that the autogate system at the Immigration Department will be suspended with immediate effect to allow Immigration officers to question new arrivals on their travel history.

“If we use the autogate, we would not know if they have visited the listed high-risk countries,” he said.
He added that flights carrying passengers from countries that have reported Omicron transmission or high-risk countries where Omicron transmission occurs will be allowed to enter Malaysia through KLIA only.
“Malaysia Airports will have to prepare a special gate for those flights,” he said.
Separately, Khairy also said tourists from countries that have reported Omicron transmission, high-risk countries that are listed or those with a history of travelling to those countries in the last 14 days will not be allowed to participate in the Langkawi travel bubble programme.
