Some seasoned travellers to Kuala Lumpur have actually shared that the public transportation system offers a great and convenient way to get around the city.
They did complain, though, that traffic can get really crazy during rush hours such as encountering “parking lots” with vehicle engines running on the roads without actually moving. But they noted that this is typical in any other large city they have been to.
Fortunately for those working within KL Sentral, the public transportation hub there covers rail, bus and cabs amongst the many choices. For instance, popular places in and around the city are just an LRT ride away, thereby beating the jam.
There’s really no other place in Malaysia that is so well planned in both short distance and long haul travel aside from KL Sentral.
In fact, you can easily reach many of the major places in and around Kuala Lumpur from KL Sentral using the LRT, monorail, train, bus and taxi.
The seven key rail systems are KLIA Express Rail Link, KLIA Transit, Putra LRT, KTM Komuter, KTM Intercity, KL Monorail and future MRT extensions. The train system is modern and efficient.
The KLIA Express Train takes only 28 minutes to arrive at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. For klia2 or the low cost carrier terminal, take the Skybus or the KLIA Express Train. It will arrive at KLIA first and stop for a while before continuing on to klia2.
As Malaysia’s largest transportation hub, KL Sentral also offer unbeatable intra-city, inter-city and global connectivity with direct links to KLIA, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and other key business districts.
KL Sentral is the most connected transit in Kuala Lumpur city. You will find the most convenient way for your transit – wherever you are from and wherever you are heading to.
The city’s rail networks all pass through KL Sentral located at Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD.
KL Sentral is the hub station on the network which is easy to navigate thanks to clearly marked signs.
The KTM Komuter and KTM Intercity speedy electric trains that travel to and fro Kuala Lumpur arrives and departs from KL Sentral. National railway operator KTMB offers connections to major cities in Peninsular Malaysia as well as to Singapore and Thailand.
The rail network aside, KL Sentral also benefits from easy accessibility to major roads and highways. These include Jalan Bangsar, Lebuhraya Mahameru, Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Jalan Istana, Jalan Damansara, Jalan Syed Putra, the New Pantai Expressway and the Federal Highway.
Major bus lines service the city too, including a shuttle bus service from KLIA and klia2 to KL Sentral.
For visitors, the KL Hop-On Hop-Off open deck buses cover 23 stops and over 70 attractions. These city tour buses operate year round and you can buy tickets in the bus, online and at Hop-on Hop-Off centres including that in KL Sentral.
There is also a Hop-on Hop-Off Night Excursion package to must-visit places around the city including foodie and shopping havens.
For taxis, take a “coupon taxi” (a couponed fixed price cab) from KL Sentral or flag down a metered city cab. You can choose a budget taxi or the larger premier one.
