Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is in talks with four airlines to begin operations at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2).
Managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said MAHB expected a new airline to commence its operation by year end.
He said the budget airline company would be the 11th company to start operations in klia2.
“We are talking to four airline companies and they were considering in terms of flight schedule and utilisation of planes for operation in klia2,” he told Bernama and Astro Awani after welcoming New Zealand Prime Minister John Key to klia2 today.
Badlisham said since early this year klia2, which had handled 28 million passengers, would be able to achieve its target of handling 29 million passengers by year end.
Key spent his time getting get acquainted with the baggage handling system developed by New Zealand company BCS Airport Systems.
Key, who arrived in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon, would be participating in the 27th Asean Summit and related meetings, including the Asean-New Zealand Commemorative Summit. – Bernama, November 20, 2015.
