The long walk to departure gates at klia2 will be a thing of the past once 19 more walkalators are installed at the complex.
There are currently two 60m long walkalators at the complex.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said three more would be installed by the end of the year.
“Two at international departure and another at international arrival at the Skybridge.”
The additional walkalators will save travellers about five minutes of walking on the 300m long Skybridge that links the passenger terminal to the satellite building.
Without a walkalator, travellers take between 15 minutes and 20 minutes to move through the Skybridge.
The installation of the three walkalators will start in early November and be completed within a month.

Next year an additional 16 walkalators will be installed. MAHB also provides buggy rides for free at klia2.
Badlisham said Malaysia Airports recognised that the walking distance was a problem for travellers.
“There have been many questions as to why klia2 is so big and (complaints) that it takes too long for passengers to walk from one point to the other.
“The public must remember that klia2 is four times the size of the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal and has the capacity to handle 45 million travellers,” he told the press during a “Customer Comes First” media tour of the airport yesterday.
“The service is open to all but priority is given to the disabled, elderly and those needing special assistance,” said Badlisham.
