Immigration Department pre-launched its express lane dubbed the “Asean Lane” in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and klia2 in conjunction with Malaysia chairing the Asean Summit 2015.
Immigration director-general Datuk Mustafa Ibrahim said the new lanes will be open for passport holders from Asean member countries arriving here.
"There will be five Asean lanes in KLIA; two at departure gate and three at the arrival gate. In klia2, there will be two lanes at each gates," he told reporters at a press conference in KLIA today.
Mustafa said the lanes will be on pilot basis and it is expected to be fully launched by February.
"The lanes are expected to be implemented at all international airports," he said.
Meanwhile, Mustafa also officiated the pre-launching of "Foreigner eGate" at KLIA as an initiative to enhance the procedures to process entries into the country.
Additionally the gates are equipped with self-clearance system to allow frequent visitors to easily go through the automated fast-track immigration process.
“The e-gate will commence operation starting on Dec 29," he said.
