Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said Wednesday that if DAP lawmaker Tony Pua was looking for answers on the construction of klia2, he should direct them to the relevant authorities.
"klia2 is a project that has been in the works for a while, and Malaysian Airport Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has consultants to advise them and make recommendations.
"MAHB is a listed company, and therefore answerable to shareholders. Whatever they do, they have to comply with the requirements of the Securities Commission," Kong told The Star.
"MAHB doesn’t report to me, they brief me on what is happening and consultant recommendations – from site selection to the building of control towers.
“If Tony Pua thinks that something is wrong, then there are many avenues or agencies which can investigate. That would be fair to everybody."
DAP National Publicity Secretary Tony Pua alleged earlier in the day that the Transport Ministry was evading questions on klia2’s construction cost, and that this "proved their attempt to cover up the scandal".
Pua accused the Transport Minister of having "no interest in promoting accountability and transparency".
Kong, however, said that he "had nothing to hide."
