The Malaysia Airport, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), is a leading Asia's aviation hub. Situated in the Sepang district, it is approximately 50km from the capital city, Kuala Lumpur.

The KLIA began its operations in June 1998 and it is now capable of handling 35 million passengers and 1.2 million tonnes of cargo a year in its current phase.

What you need to know about KLIA

The Malaysia Airport KLIA was designed using the 'Airport in the Forest, Forest in the Airport' concept, in which it is surrounded by green space with an entire section of the rain forest transplanted in the Satellite Building.

Since its inauguration in year 1998, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has won numerous awards from international organisations such as Skytrax and International Air Transport Association.

Express Rail Link

The KLIA Ekspres is a direct express train service between the airport and KL City Air Terminal (KLCAT) located at Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station.

Journey: 28 minutes
Frequency: 15 minutes
Operational hours: 4.30am - 1am

The KLIA Transit is another high-speed commuter train that shares the same tracks as KLIA Ekspres, but stops at three other stations between KL City Air Terminal (KLCAT) and KLIA.

Journey: 35 minutes
Frequency: 30 minutes

Express coaches

Express coaches to hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Hentian Duta and the Chan Sow Lin LRT station are available from the bus station located on the ground floor of Block C in the covered car park.

Frequency: 30 minutes/1 hour

Bus and KTM Komuter

Buses are available from the KLIA bus station located on the ground floor of Block C to the Nilai Kommuter Station, onwards to Kuala Lumpur via the KTM Komuter train.

Frequency: 30 minutes


Airport taxis or limousines are available on the Arrivals level. Fares vary according to the destinations' zone. Passengers are advised to purchase their coupons at the taxi/limousine counter on the Arrivals level instead of flagging down an unauthorised taxi.
