Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has issued an apology to all passengers who experienced difficulties due to technical issues faced by its Aerotrain breaks down.
It said on its official Facebook account that the train had halted mid-way on the tracks from Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s (KLIA’s) Main Terminal Building to the Satellite Building on Monday (March 1).
“We had immediately sent a second train to ferry the passengers for the rest of the journey but unfortunately, the second train also experienced technical difficulties.
“This resulted in the passengers having to walk to the Satellite Building to complete their journey,” it said.
The company added that all passengers reached the Satellite Building safely accompanied by train safety officers and paramedics. Passengers were then ushered to Sama-Sama Express transit hotel before boarding their flights.
“We are also getting the airlines’ help to facilitate passengers who may have missed their flights due to the situation,” it said.
The airport company said it had halted all Aerotrain operations until further notice in order to rectify the technical issue.
Meanwhile, the company will employ other existing trains for passenger transits based on the following schedules:(a) 6am to 10am (b) noon to 3.30pm (c) 5pm to 11.30pm (d) 12.30am to 3.30am.
For further convenience, the company will offer 24/7 shuttle bus services between the main terminal and satellite buildings as an alternative mode of transportation.
Separately, the company said it had started its Aerotrain replacement programme last year which would complete in 2025.
“We are finalising the design phase and will begin the construction phase soon in Q2 this year,” it said.
