The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) hopes that a full investigation will be conducted on a minister, who allegedly breached security protocols at the arrival hall of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) recently.
The action was allegedly taken to free a detained foreign tourist, who was trying to enter the country.
Cuepacs president Datuk Haji Adnan Mat expressed regret over the incident, saying it violated national security protocols and disrupted the duties of civil servants.
“As an individual holding a ministerial position, such an action is inappropriate.
“All parties, including national leaders, should place full trust in the authorities to carry out their duties.”
Adnan said such intrusive behaviour should not be tolerated as it violated security protocols and standard operating procedures.
He said if there was any misunderstanding in the process of detaining the tourist, the minister should have provided assistance or sought more information from the authorities.
“No one is above the law. If there is a violation of the law in this case, the government should take firm action to uphold the rule of law.”
Earlier, a portal reported that a commotion occurred at KLIA Terminal 1 when a minister broke into the international arrival hall to rescue” a Chinese national, who was detained by Immigration officers upon entering the country.
