A new health protocol for arriving international travellers will allow them to leave the airport in less than 45 minutes from April 1, says health minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said the new protocol involves the use of the MySejahtera app, pre-departure Covid-19 test and filling in pre-release forms.
“Travellers will need to fill many pre-release forms,” he said, according to Bernama.
If all conditions are met, they will be issued a traveller card in the MySejahtera app which will allow them to board the plane.
Travellers must also complete an antigen test within 24 hours of arrival, or take a breath test at KLIA for travellers.
Khairy gave details of the new procedures while on a visit to Kuala Lumpur International Airpot with transport minister Wee Ka Siong.
Malaysia will reopen its borders to international travellers from April 1.
Khairy said use of the protocol will cut the time between disembarkation and departure from the airport to between 35 and 45 minutes, compared to more than an hour before.
Wee said the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia will direct all airlines to inform their passengers regarding the pre-conditions before boarding flights. “This will help to avoid congestion at the arrival hall,” he added.
