MALAYSIA Airlines Bhd (MAB) is working closely with the Ministry of Transport (MoT) to arrange for vaccination for its frontline staff and the rest of the workforce.
“At the same time, all staff have been urged to register for vaccination through MySejahtera or the recently concluded AstraZeneca drive.
“MAB is one of the many airline operators at KLIA,” MAB told The Malaysian Reserve in an email reply.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said a full list of eligible recipients had already been submitted to the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) which includes a list of aviation and airport employees serving under the Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), MAB, AirAsia, Malindo Air and ports and seafarers under the ministry’s purview.
He said until June 4, 2021, a total of 1,725 (19%) out of 9,340 eligible personnel under MAHB and its subsidiaries have been vaccinated.

“A total of 399 personnel are not eligible due to factors as determined by the Ministry of Health including pregnant or nursing mothers, or other medical conditions.
“I have spoken to Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar on this matter and he has assured us that the CITF will expedite the vaccination programme for the logistics sector,” he said in a statement.
The MoT is acutely aware that the logistics industry has borne the brunt of the Covid-19 pandemic since it hit shores more than a year ago.
Yet, the selfless and tireless workers in the logistics sector, be it aviation or ports, have continued to ensure that vaccines for Malaysia can be brought into the country and delivered to the vaccination centres efficiently and without unnecessary hindrance.
“For this, we thank you. We acknowledge the need for our workers in these sectors to be vaccinated as soon as possible alongside the entire spectrum of the transport industry.
“This would also help the country prepare to reopen its air borders and expedite economic recovery once it is safe to do so. Everything is being done to hasten the delivery of the vaccines for the men and women of this sector,” he added.
