Another 5,713 Covid-19 cases were detected nationwide over the last day, with an upward trend observed over the past few days.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah tweeted the latest Covid-19 numbers, which showed 2,492,343 confirmed cases cumulatively so far.
Yesterday, a total of 5,291 new cases were reported.
So far this week, cases have dipped to as low as 4,626 infections per day reported on Monday, with today’s figures being the highest this week.
As of midnight last night, Malaysia has a seven-day case average of 5,465 infections, with Selangor, Sarawak, and Sabah making up the top three after areas within the Klang Valley.
Dr Noor Hisham, in his full statement later, reported that 32 of today’s new cases were imported, with 5,681 of the local infections involving Malaysians and 289 involving non-locals.

Currently, 555 patients were in intensive care units (ICU) nationwide, 36 of which are still suspected Covid-19 patients.
Meanwhile, 280 patients in ICUs are intubated, with 62 of them still only suspected Covid-19 patients.
Dr Noor Hisham also reported 5,865 more patients who were discharged by MOH over the last day.

The recovery rate now stands at 96.1 per cent with 2,396,244 cured so far.
Only five new clusters were detected over the last day, bringing the total number of clusters to 5,793 since the pandemic began.
Of these, 367 clusters remain active.
Additionally, Dr Noor Hisham said only 93 cases from today’s tally were those in categories three to five with more serious symptoms, with the remaining 98.4 per cent of today’s cases involving those with little or no symptoms. – MalayMail
