Express Rail Link (ERL), a train service between the Kuala Lumpur city and KL International Airport (KLIA), will resume its operation on Monday (May 4).
However, the line will see lesser frequencies and would combine the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services into one.
ERL Sdn Bhd, which oversees the train operation from KLIA and klia2 to Kuala Lumpur Sentral and vice versa, will also reduce its usual total of 237 trips per day to 78 now.
They have also adjusted the 15 minutes intervals to 20 minutes during peak period and from 20 minutes wait to 30 minutes during the off-peak period.
ERL peak period has also been changed to 7am to 9am and 4pm to 6pm daily now.
On weekends, the train service would run at 30 minutes intervals.
ERL new operating hours are from 6am to 11pm now instead of the 5am to 1am previously.
With the combination of the two ERL services, the train would take seven minutes longer or 35 minutes to KLIA. The travelling time from Kuala Lumpur Sentral to KLIA was 28 minutes previously.
In a statement from ERL Sdn Bhd, it said the limited service would be carried out for a month, followed by a review to suit the growing passenger ridership.
“ERL is also practising social distancing onboard its trains and stations. Body temperature screening would be carried at the departing stations,” it stated.
“All passengers are also advised to wear masks when using the train.”
The statement also said passengers are encouraged to go cashless when buying tickets. They can use e-wallet or credit cards with waving features.
