Q: Can I know earlier where I will be quarantined?
A: The quarantine station will only be known once a person has arrived through the International Entry Point (PMA) after the health screening is done. Individuals placed at the quarantine stations will be known as “Person Under Surveillance” (PUS).
Q: Is the quarantine service provided for free?
A: Beginning June 1, 2020, the Malaysian government had imposed a new policy on all individuals entering Malaysia through PMA. The rates are:
> Malaysians: 50% from the maximum hotel rate of RM150 a day per person for a period set by the Health Ministry.
> Malaysians who choose self-paying: The full rate agreed between the government and Hotel Sama-Sama, KLIA, or any hotels set by the government.
> Foreigners: Maximum rate of RM150 a day per person for a period set by the Health Ministry.
> Foreigners (expatriates, Malaysia My Second Home permit holders, permanent residents or others given permission to enter Malaysia): At the full rate agreed upon between the government and the Hotel Sama-Sama, KLIA (or any hotels designated by the government).
> OKU (person with disability) card holder issued by the Welfare Department: Quarantine cost will be borne by the government.
Q: What must I do before coming through the PMA?
A: All individuals entering Malaysia from June 1, 2020, must:
i) Get a Letter of Undertaking and Indemnity.
ii) Get a travel notice from the Malaysian mission (Perwakilan Malaysia yang ditauliahkan).
iii) Display the travel notice from the Malaysian mission to the airline company, other public transportation companies as well as the Immigration Department.
Q: Where can I get the Letter of Undertaking and Indemnity?

Q: Can I get the Letter of Undertaking and Indemnity from the Malaysian mission offices?
A: No. The letter can only be downloaded from the websites above.
Q: What medium can be used to send the Letter of Undertaking and Indemnity?
A: For each application, the email needs to have the letter attached with the documents related and other supporting documents to the Malaysia mission that is overseas at least three days before departing. The addresses can be found at https://www.kln.gov.my/web/guest/malaysian-mission.
Q: How can I get my travel notice from the Malaysian mission?
A: Individuals may submit the application with supporting documents via email. The documents needed are:
> Malaysians: Letter of Undertaking and Indemnity, travel documents such as flight ticket and valid identification document.
> Foreigners: Letter of Undertaking and Indemnity, travel documents such as flight ticket and valid identification document, approval from the Malaysian Immigration Department director-general and a travel notice by the Malaysia mission (through e-mail).
Q: What will happen if I do not sign the Letter of Undertaking and Indemnity?
A: Individuals who do not sign the Letter of Undertaking and Indemnity will not be given the travel notice by the Malaysian mission. The travel notice must be submitted during the registration process of checking in for the flight or the use of other public transportation.
For non-Malaysians, the failure to submit the travel notice can cause the individual to be disallowed to board the flight or other public transportation.
For land travel, the failure to produce the document will complicate the entry of the individual to Malaysia.
However, for Malaysians, the failure to provide the travel notice will not cause the individual to be denied the right to board the flight or public or personal transportation. The failure to produce the document will only make the entry of the Malaysian into the country harder and will delay the quarantine process. Malaysians are still bound by the rules and regulations and action will be taken when the individual arrives in Malaysia.
Q: What will happen if I refuse or am unable to afford to pay the quarantine cost?
A: Action can be taken against the PUS who refuses to pay the quarantine cost under Section 22 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act and Rule 14, and Declaration of Infected Local Areas Order.
Q: Can the next of kin send essential items to the quarantine stations?
A: It is not encouraged to do so. It can be done with the permission from the officers on duty for essential items only. Officers have the right to refuse the delivery of such items. However, the process of sending the items is also subject to the movement control order that is in force now.
Q: Is the quarantine cost for children the same (ceiling cost of RM150 a day)?
A: Quarantine for children aged six years and below is free (with the condition that the child shares the room with the mother or father or guardian). However, for children aged 12 and below who share the room, the quarantine cost recommended to the hotel is RM50.
