In-airport hotel operator CapsuleTransit has opened a new 70-pod facility at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2).

The 2,500sq ft airside development is primarily targeted at transit air passengers, who can book and pay for pods for durations of one, three, six and 12 hours.
The facility features both mixed and female-only zones, and offers single pods complete with a ‘comfortable’ bed, luxury pillows, towels and complimentary dental kits, earplugs and sleeping eye masks.

Other features of the sound-proofed pods, which can be hired with a boarding pass as identification, include clothes hangers, an in-room safe, luggage storage facilities and access to hot showers.

CapsuleTransit has also announced a tie-up with beauty brand Benefit Cosmetics for the pods in the female-only zone to include complimentary cosmetics samples. As part of the agreement, the full-sized cosmetic products are available for purchase at the hotel’s reception desk.

The developer said the range of items provided by CapsuleTransit ensures that guests have all of the basics needed for their stay, even if all of their luggage is checked in with an airline.

CapsuleTransit Chief Creative Officer and Co-founder Vincent Tan said: “After five years of research, listening to feedback and fine-tuning, this next generation CapsuleTransit hotel in klia2 significantly upgrades its airport-centric features with a more ergonomic design, more amenities and better sound-proofing.
“Our new airside facility offers flexible stays for flight layovers of different periods, giving customers a chance to rest in comfort, with privacy. It also provides them with a great base from which to explore airport shops and food & beverage outlets.”
The first CapsuleTransit opened landside at klia2 in 2014 with 79 sleeping pods. That has since expanded to around 9,500sq ft of landside space, housing 204 pods.
