London Mayor Boris Johnson has arrived here to begin a three-day visit to the city.
He was greeted by Khazanah Research Institute managing director Datuk Charon Wardini Mokhzani and Khazanah Research and Investment Strategy director Imran Ahmad upon arriving at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) yesterday.
Johnson will deliver a lecture at the Khazanah Global Lectures (KGL) tomorrow.
The event, which will feature the world’s leading thought and business leaders who will speak on various aspects of development, will be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The British High Commission had stated earlier that Johnson would meet Kuala Lumpur Datuk Bandar Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib and go on a city walkabout.
Johnson will also ride on the Express Rail Link and Light Rail Transit to get a first-hand experience on the public transportation system here.
Johnson’s visit is part of his South-East Asian tour, which will include Indonesia and Singapore.
Among those who have delivered their lectures at the KGL were 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner and founder-cum-managing director of Grameen Bank Prof Muhammad Yunus; 2001 Nobel Economics Prize winner and former chief economist of the World Bank Prof Joseph E. Stiglitz; and former Indian President Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam.
