AirAsia has advised travellers to expect delays on Saturday due to the closure of Runway 3 at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2).
The low-cost carrier said in a statement that Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) had temporarily closed the runway to accommodate urgent maintenance work.
"Runway 1 and Runway 2 are operating as usual, however guests should expect flight delays as a result of the Runway 3 closure," AirAsia said.
It added that it is cooperating with MAHB on the matter and will update guests about any changes to their flights.
Affected guests will be notified of their latest flight details and their available options via email or SMS.
MAHB said in a statement that Runway 3 at KLIA is temporarily closed from 10.30am to 4pm Saturday to facilitate urgent maintenance work on the runway as part of safety procedures.
"We are working closely with our airline partners to ensure the least impact to flight operations. We expect minimal impact to flight operations and no major flight delays due to this closure," it said in a statement which was also posted on social media platforms.
MAHB said KLIA has two other runways to sufficiently serve airline operations in the event of temporary closure of one of the runways such as this. Passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines on flight schedules.
