Continuous maintenance by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) has reduced water retention at the apron, says its managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali.
“Although it is the rainy season, we have reduced the problem (water retention), and we have put up the latest information about the maintenance programme three times on the MAHB website,” he told Bernama.
He said with the airport operator providing monthly reports on klia2’s maintenance programme, the public can see the reduction in water retention over the last four months.
On fuel spillage at Bays Q10 and Q12, Badlisham reiterated that the problem was caused by leaking pipelines and not by soil depression.
“We are still closing the bays, and aircraft can use other bays, while in the affected areas we are using tankers to refuel the aircraft,” he said.
Badlisham said Petronas subsidiary Kuala Lumpur Aviation Fuelling Systems, which is responsible for management, operations and maintenance of the pipelines, was still investigating the source of the leaks while repairing the affected pipelines.
“Detailed investigations are still being carried out as we want to know the root cause, and the findings will be reported to us soon,” he said.
