Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) hopes the government will increase its allocation in the Budget 2015 proposals for government agencies including the Customs department and Immigration.
Its managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said on Wednesday said higher allocation for these agencies, which are operating at airports especially in klia2, were crucial to ensure they ran smoothly.
"Indirectly, an increase in allocation would increase the number of staff operating at the airports, this would also benefit the nation," he told reporters after awarding six retail outlets to qualified Bumiputera companies to operate at klia2 terminal.
The programme is a collaboration between MAHB and Ministry of Trade and Industry (MITI) to enhance bumiputera entrepreneurship in the country. To date, 11 outlets have been awarded under the programme.
Badlisham said MAHB wanted to increase the number of retail outlets operated by Bumiputeras at the klia2 terminal to 38% by year-end from 35% currently.
"Our goals is to open 175 outlet in klia2 by year-end, of which 38% will be operated by Bumiputeras," said MAHB senior general manager of commercial services Faizah Khairuddin.
She said there were 138 outlets operating at klia2.
